Artist Statement: I can draw. With my eyes, it is easy to decipher the geometry of the tangible and intangible world and express it on flat surfaces. This is what I do best, but it is not enough to be just the recorder of the world around me as it appears. What tweaks my sensibilities is to find line and form in discarded steel and renew their utility in the form of art.
My vision is to share what I see when I draw on a flat surfaces through sculpture. To first show the entire image and be moved enough to take a closer look. Next, to have the viewer realize that the sum of its parts translates into the whole. And finally, to touch the viewer to see the congruent flow of geometry that infiltrates the man-made and natural worlds.
Elli’Äôs work can be seen at her studio in Port Matilda, various festivals, Pennsylvania Artisan Trail outlets and at the Museum of Visionary Art in Baltimore.
